Sarcophagus with Lambs Approaching Christ: Right and left ends

3rd to 8th century
Stone
Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, Ravenna, Italy

Both ends have the same design with four wheel-like circles framed by architectural elements. The composition appears to reference the four fiery wheels of the chariot in Ezekiel 1. The right end of the lid features emblems of abundance: a large urn hanging from a vine among flowers and fruits.
